Bon Iver Leads The Loop With ‘Hey, Ma’

In the week that he’s playing at Madrid’s Mad Cool festival, Justin Vernon’s band Bon Iver is our favourite song of the week with ‘Hey, Ma’ one of the two brand new tracks anticipating their long awaited new album. Hip-hop’s alt-folk band of choice is suitable followed by two of the biggest hip-hop stars Today: Tyler, The Creator and IDK.
The rather enigmatic funk and soul band SAULT are the highest new entry. Also debuting strong the new tracks by serpentwithfeet feat. Ty Dolla $ign; Mark Ronson feat. Angel Olsen; Thom Yorke; black midi; Joan Dausà con María Rodés Y Santi Balmes; Yuna feat. Little Simz; Jacques Greene feat. Cadence Weapon; The Raconteurs; H.E.R. feat. YBN Cordae; Snail Mail; Moon Duo; Mala Rodríguez; and the epic return of Oh Seees.

Bon Iver’s Comeback Tops The Loop

After the enormous success of his former work and his unlikely collaboration in KanYe West’s latest opus and Rober Award album of the year winner; the intimate, folk-tinged sounds of Bon Iver , who’ve just returned anticipating their second album by giving away the first single, ‘Calgary’, top the loop this week.
Another of our alt-folk favourite bands, Woods, is the highest entry in this edition, which also brings new songs by R&B greats Drake; Lil Wayne; Beyoncé and Frank Ocean .

The Academy has spoken, after the results of our annual music poll were unveiled, now it’s the turn for the official Rober Awards. There are few surprises and many similarities with the people’s choices. As predicted 2008 got a name standing above the rest: Portishead. The complete list of winners after the jump.

After his retirement to a cabin in the woods turned to be one of pop music’s most creatively succesful retreats for ages, being currently celebrated in best-of charts and awards around the globe; Justin Vernon returns to civilization with his first release after “For Emma, Forever Ago”. Bon Iver’s new four track EP, “Blue Blood” carries on his trademark style, but somehow trying to adapt to a more social environment. Vernon even toys with the popular software autotune in one of the songs. The full EP can be streamed on myspace.
