Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on October 5, 2020
The DIY, post-punk infused debut of Boston band Sweeping Promises keeps on impressing in our loop, returning to #1 with another of the album’s many standout moments, ‘Falling Forward.’ On a good week for US indie, the folk-rock of Lomelda and another single off Sufjan Stevens‘ new album complete the Top 3.
Spanish songwriter Nacho Vegas‘ new protest song is the highest debut, in a week with a high number of new entries, among them tracks by Megan Thee Stallion feat. Young Thug; Fleet Foxes; Tim Heidecker feat. Weyes Blood; Matt Maeson feat. Lana Del Rey; Ruiseñora; Travis Scott feat. Young Thug & M.I.A.; Oneohtrix Point Never; Adrianne Lenker; Yves Jarvis; Kurt Vile feat. John Prine; Romy from The xx; Fenne Lily; Omar Apollo; Jorja Smith feat. Popcaan; Jim-E Stack feat. Bon Iver; Jónsi feat. Robyn… and Deerhoof who returns with a crazy covers album which features their take on such beloved classics as Knight Rider’s soundtrack, Eddy Grant´s ‘Electric Avenue’… in what sounds like their own take on those ‘Stars on 45’ hit records from the late 70s. Young Fathers Take Over The Loop

Edinburgh alt hip-hop collective Young Fathers take this week’s edition of our loop back to the nineties with their infectious mix of rap, electrónica and pop. ‘NO WAY’, the opening track of their new album ‘Dead’, reaches the top of our chart.
The new track from by songwriter Nacho Vegas stroms his way in, alongside the latest offerings by Lykke Li; Le1f or Gruff Rhys and two highly tipped acts for 2014, FKA Twigs vs. Inc., teaming up in their new record, as do Pharrell Williams & Daft Pank, the French duo returning the favour in one of the standout moments from the popular producer’s new album.

159-NACHO VEGAS-Seronda
Posted by Roberto in MUSIC REVIEW, MUSIC REVIEW on December 12, 2009
Nacho Vegas surprised the Spanish speaking world with his first solo album. The former lead member of Asturian band Manta Ray began an acclaimed transformation into the most essential singer-songwriter of his country; diametrally opposed to the bulk of already established ones. His debut preserved certain sensitivity and arrangements from his indie days that will progressively fade away as his storytelling became rawer sonically and lyrically, reflecting over poetic visions of everyday hells.
