Lykke Li Melts The Loop
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on March 31, 2014
Another week, another Swedish female topping the loop; this time our new favourite song marks the return of Lykke Li, about to release her new album ‘I Never Learn’. If the tone of its second taster, ‘Love Me Like I’m not Made Of Stone’, is anything to go by, it looks it will be a darkness and heartbreak-infused opus.
Veteran groundbreaker Michael Gira with his Swans is the highest debut alongside new offerings by Woods: Tinashe Feat. Schoolboy Q; The War On Drugs on a heavily nostalgic edition that sees some sort of 90’s retro offensive featuring the likes of D’Angelo; Roddy Frame; Luke Haines; Kim Deal, but gets crowned by the comeback of scousers extraordinaires Echo And The Bunnymen.
Check this week’s edition after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li gets this week top spot at the loop with “Sadness Is A Blessing”, another highlight from her sophomore album ’Wounded Rhymes’, beating such competitors as Cults; Junior Boys and Jay Paul .
Bon Iver; Battles; another highlight from Fucked Up’s impressive new rock opera and the glorious noise made by Fuck Buttons’ Benjamin John Power side project, under the moniker of Blanck Mass are the highest entries in this new edition.
You can check the loop in full here.

After the mild disappointment that was their second opus “The Understanding”; Röyksopp, Norway’s biggest electronica export, are back to their most pop-tastic form in “Junior”.
The duo from Bergen has scheduled two albums to be released in 2009, when “Junior” is about to hit the shops and can be listened in full at the band’s myspace page; it will be followed by “Senior” at the end of the year. First impressions are more than positive . The album is packed with potential singles, most of them helped in the vocal field by the cream of Today’s cutting edge Scandinavian female artists. After the jump, a quick look at Röyksopp’s women. Read the rest of this entry »

THE SHORTWAVE SET-No Social
Collectively nicknamed as Blog Rock, during this decade a big number of new artists discovered by the increasing presence of music blogs online, have grown to be a parallel world coexisting with the big-buck marketing of the four majors oligopoly, being a true engine for the industry’s renewal. Their influence was felt and in some cases intercepted, with some high profile ones closing down and some others watching their contents and ethos being modified. The remaining ones still fulfilled their gatekeeping role with clockwork precision and the following names were among their luckiest findings.
Read the rest of this entry »
