Los Planetas Bring Negationism To The Loop

Veteran Spanish indie band Los Planetas scores a new #1 in our chart with ‘El Negacionista,’ an ironic and critical song against the conspiranoid misinformation manufactured by the ultra right that’s wrecking our media and weakening our societies. The return of dubstep pioneer Burial and experimental hip-hop poet Moor Mother feat. billy woods & Wolf Weston complete the Top 3.

In a very Spanish-flavoured edition, the surprise collaboration between C. Tangana and Toquinho is the highest new entry. Followed by the new songs by Lana Del Rey; Julien Baker; Taylor Swift feat. HAIM; Playboi Carti; Jane Weaver; Stereolab; CARM feat. Sufjan Stevens; Margot; REYKO; Steve Earle; Sleaford Mods feat. Amy Taylor; Kurt Vile; Jane Birkin feat. Étienne Daho; Ashnikko feat. Kelis… and the return of the always controversial female rapper Azealia Banks feat. Slim Dollars. Check Our Loop in full here.

Viet Cong Fills Our Loop With Silhouettes

viet cong

Calgary band Viet Cong, which counts with two former members of Women, released their excellent same titled debut last week and reaches the top of our loop again with “Silhouettes”. The follow-up to ‘Continental Shelf’ has ran a similar fate than its predecessor.

New releases keep on flooding the market and the surprise new track by Burial, reminding us a bit of early The Prodigy, is the highest debut. Other noteworthy entries this week are the latest by some of the favorites to win Rober Awards such as St. Vincent; Aphex Twin; Sleater-Kinney or Sharon Van Etten (you can still vote in our 2014 poll here).

Burial First #1 Of 2014 In The Loop

burial

We kickstart a new year with a special edition of our loop; a recap of the best records dropped during our long festive break. Among all of them, two were particularly unexpected, Burial’s new three-track EP ‘Rival Dealer’, whose standout moment ‘Come Down To Us’ is the first number one in our favourite tracks chart this year and Beyoncé who also shocked the whole industry releasing by surprise an eponymous new album, which turned out to be her most solid effort to date. On the heat of a very clever and instant marketing campaign hers has become in a matter of days the eight best selling record in the States last year.

New works by St. Vincent; The War On Drugs; Damien Jurado; Broken Bells; EMA; Angel Haze and Mogwai are featured in this preview of the most interesting music about to be released.
