Arcade Fire Reflekts On Afterlife
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on November 11, 2013
As expected Arcade Fire‘s ‘Reflektor’ has conquered the world charts. The record’s second single, ‘Afterlife’, gets them back to top our loop this week; fresh from their YouTube awards much talked-about performance in which indie starlet Greta Gerwig danced to it.
Ex-Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde’s new venture, Snowbird, is the highest debut, next to new tracks by Flume Feat. Ghostface Killa & Autre Ne Veut; Dum Dum Girls; Jon Talabot and one of the as yet unreleased tracks featured in Grizzly Bear‘s expanded reissue of their classic ‘Shields’.

Arcade Fire Reach #1 With ‘Reflektor’
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on September 23, 2013
The most eagerly awaited record of the seasons has spawned her first loop topper. Arcade Fire‘s disco-tinged ‘Reflektor’ is our favourite song this week and drives the anticipation for the Canadian arty combo’s fourth album to sky rocket levels.
New tracks by Janelle Monáe Feat. Solange; FKA Twigs; Four Tet and James Blake Feat. Chance The Rapper debut high, but its the relative lesser known White Sea who provides the highest new entry.

#5-ARCADE FIRE-The Suburbs (Merge)
Posted by Roberto in MUSIC REVIEW, MUSIC REVIEW on January 9, 2011
In their third offering Arcade Fire have finally come to terms with their new arena status, after the uneasy ride that was ‘Neon Bible’, and produced another classic that got to number one in the charts around the world. Its songs shared a common reflection about leaving the innocence and idealism of youth behind, while coping with the realities of life that come with maturity. Musically, they’ve kept their anthemic nature but turning their eyes a decade back –from 80’s indie to 70’s rock– to add a fresh batch of influences to their palette; lyrically, their songs packed a bigger emotional punch and, although many knives were being sharpened waiting for signs of selling out, ‘The Suburbs’ turned out to be the earnest testimony of a band that, no matter how big they get, are staying faithful to their principles.

Darwin Deez Replaces Crystal Castles On Top Of The Loop.
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP, POP CULTURE & NEWS, POP CULTURE & NEWS on May 28, 2010
Constellations, the debut single from the New York singer Darwin Deez has replaced Crystal Castles ’ electro hit ‘Celestica’ as number one in our loop. Deez’s brand of power pop has echoes of classic new wave bands and his voice reminds us to the whimsical harmonies of Ween or They Might Be Giants.
New entries have flooded our chart with tracks by Male Bonding; Janelle Monáe; Pill and School Of Seven Bells all joining in this week.
