After a few years in which many bands around the world have been inspired by the sounds of British shoegaze and C86 to create an updated version of noise-pop; the UK finally jumped into this revivalist bandwagon with artists such as The Big Pink ahead of the pack. This London duo came under the prestigious 4AD label, flirted with electro-pop, earned the support of blogs and radio stations through solid hit singles “Dominos” and “Velvet” and was chosen by The Pixies to open the UK brand of their recent “Doolittle” tour. With “A Brief History of Love” they’ve offered us one of the debuts of the year.
Released on 4AD. Available to listen in Spotify.
