After a year of breakdown and internal tensions, Nathan Williams recruited two of the late Jay Reatard’s band members to finish Wavves’ second album –third if you count the first cassette only offering. Much of the earlier lo-fi distortion gave way to a more energetic and straightforward punk/noise-pop sound and you can argue the record was a bit uneven, but its better parts were good enough as to justify its presence among our best of the year. The title tracks became one of our summer anthems of 2010.
