Among the highlights of the year 2000 we found the beautifully chilled sonic landscapes of this Icelandic combo, tasting of nostalgia and northern lights, that went to conquer the world, becoming so famous we were afraid they would substitute Enya in the heart of Hollywood as the soundtrack of choice for fantasy blockbusters. Luckily, Sigur Rós didn’t totally succumb to the mainstream and their recent shift towards folk-pop, not miles away from Animal Collective, underlined the splendid evolution of one of the defining artists of this decennium.
