The Loop Takes Denzel Curry’s Speedboat

Florida rapper Denzel Curry, whom with his fourth work ‘Zuu’ has delivered one of the hip-hop albums of the year, is this week’s number one in our loop with his single, ‘Standout.’ The tuneful indie pop of Lower Dens and the alt-soul of Congolese-American female songwriter Christelle Bofale, rank also high this week.

Another track from Tyler, The Creator‘s acclaimed new work is the highest debut, followed closely by brand new tracks by IDK; Flying Lotus feat. Solange; Burial; Yung Beef; Octavian feat. Big Thief Rules The Loop

Brooklyn folk-rockers Big Thief have released one of the albums of the year, ‘U.F.O.F,’ our favourite track of which, ‘Jenni,’ is this week’s favourite song in our loop. Clairo and the new project by ex-Silver Jews David Berman, Purple Mountains, complete the Top 3.

Highest debut of the week comes from the enigmatic Jai Paul, who is just released a full album of rare material. Bill Callahan Returns In Top Shape

Any new work by Bill Callahan is a cause for celebration, and ‘Shepherd in a Sheepskin Vest,’ with its split release in two parts, nostalgicly named Side 1 and 2, does not disappoint. One of the record’s standouts, Angela, goes straight to #1 in the new edition of our loop, led by American alt-songwriters, with Big Thief and The National rounding out the Top 3.

Aldous Harding’s Return, ‘The Barrel,’ Tops Our Loop.

In a week dominated by female artists – a good way to celebrate International Women’s Day- ‘The Barrel’ tops the new edition of our loop. The first taster from one of the most anticipated releases of the season, New-Zealand songwriter Aldous Harding‘s third album, ‘Designer’, arrives two years after her sophomore work topped our annual best of chart, second only to Kendrick Lamar. The luminous indie pop of Canadian artist Munya climbs to number 2. Hip-hop masters Freddie Gibbs and Madlib; UK dance songstress Roses Gabor and the French electronic-pop of Vendredi-Sur-mer complete our Top 5.
