A few years down the noughties, Bill Callahan would dispose of the Smog moniker and began releasing his records under his own name; but arguably his finest moment of the last ten years came when he was still signing as the band that turned him into a critical darling. From his 2001 album “Dongs Of Sevotion”, “Dress Sexy At My Funeral” showcased the best qualities of his songwriting; in particular a second to none ability as an insightfully dark lyricist.
