Big Sean & Friends Control The Loop
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on August 26, 2013
‘Control (HOF)’, the collaboration between Big Sean, Jay Electronica & Kendrick Lamar has proven to be a winner, despite copywright reasons preventing it to appear in Sean’s new album. Lamar’s inflamed verse asking all current big players in hip-hop to better their game fuelled an online chain reaction and promped the song all the way up to the top of our loop.
Another hip-hop high profile collaboration, Earl Sweatshirt Feat. Frank Ocean, is the week’s highest debut. Other strong entries are the latest offerings by Poliça; Parquet Courts; Anna Calvi and the ballad that brings together the soulful talents of Janelle Monáe and Miguel .

Julia Holter’s All-Conquering Loud City Song
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on August 19, 2013
Julia Holter has done it again. The experimental artist from L.A. has beaten the high expectations surrounding the release of her third album, ‘Loud City Song’, delivering another great work of ethereal beauty. ‘Maxim’s I’ is this week’s top track.
Among an avalanche of new entries, the latest offerings by Volcano Choir; King Krule; Cults or Bill Callahan are some of the highest. However it’s Big Sean album’s discard -for copyright reasons- ‘Control (HOV)’ the strongest of them all, thanks to the contribution of Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar and the latter’s controversial verse prompting the cream of Today’s hip-hop to better the genre’s quality.

FKA Twigs Refreshing ‘Water Me’
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on August 12, 2013
A promising alt R&B vocalist from Gloucestershire, FKA Twigs, delivers our favourite tune on this edition; the trippy standout track from her second EP, ‘Water Me’.
And more established female artists also dominate the week’s new entries with tracks by PJ Harvey; Julia Holter; Neko Case and Frankie Rose all debuting strong, next to the new offerings by MGMT; John Cale; Drake or White Denim who have teamed up with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy to produce their new record.

A strong candidate for electronic album of the year, Fuck Buttons‘ third work ‘Slow Focus’ tops the loop this week with its astonishing opening track ‘Brainfreeze’.
FKA Twigs is the highest new entry, followed by the likes of Childish Gambino; Mayer Hawthorne Feat. Kendrick Lamar and the return of TV On The Radio.
