Blur Return In Top Shape
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on July 25, 2012
The many times hinted return to studio of Britpop’s finest Blur has finally materialised. Albarn and co will release a retrospective box-set including some new songs. “Under The Westway” is the first of them and doesn’t disappoint, reaching the top of our loop in the current edition.
Some of the most awaited follow-up albums of the season (The xx; How To Dress Well), provided us with the highest entries, next to Hudson Mohawke & Lunice teaming up project TNGHT and the duet between rap legend Nas with the sorely missed Amy Winehouse .

Holidays In Spain: The Songs Of Summer
Posted by Roberto in POP CULTURE & NEWS, POP CULTURE & NEWS on July 19, 2012
It’s taken a long while, but looks like summer may be finally arriving to British shores. To celebrate it, we’ve compiled a spotify playlist with an anthology of the annual Spanish institution that is “La Cancion Del Verano” (literally, the song of the summer), jumping backwards and forwards through decades and genres to bring all those Mediterranean memories back to mind. Our selection ranges from the (mostly) ridiculous to the (occasionally) sublime, leaving plenty of room to accomodate the cream of the national superstars mixed with global one hit wonders; tanned heartbreakers, talentless bimbos; beach boys; dance crazes and colourful eurodancers that have amused us all these years. As good old George Michael said in the title of one of his albums, “Listen Without Prejudice” and Enjoy!
The Loop Invaded By Summer Songs
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on July 19, 2012
Dancehall artist Machel Montano heads a particularly summery edition of our loop with his dancefloor anthem “Go Down”, beating other summer song contenders such as Todd Terje or Beatriz Luengo‘, who’s teamed up with Shaggy & Toy Selectah in her refreshing “Lengua”.
Frank Ocean, currently on top of the world with his first proper album, is the week’s big entry, followed closely by brand new tunes from Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Cat Power . Pink’s is also one of the free downloads of the week, next to offerings by Taken By Trees; Tame Impala or Azealia Banks’ latest mixtape, “Neptune”.

Joey Bada$$’ Survival Tactics Thrive
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on July 12, 2012
Rising hip-hop star Joey Bada$$ has put an end to a long reign by female vocalists in our loop. ‘Survival Tactics’ features Capital STEEZ and is the standout from his ‘1999’ mixtape.
The first fruits from Blur‘s highly anticipated reunion are here; next to new tracks by Kanye West Feat. Pusha T or Liars, is one of the highest entries. The strongest of all, however, comes from much lesser known Americana female (again) vocalist Waxahatchee and her infectiously simple ‘Be Good’.

Charli XCX Is The One This Week
Posted by Roberto in IN THE LOOP on July 5, 2012
Another week, another female singer topping the loop; this time is British artist Charli XCX, who follows her well received ‘Nuclear Season’ with another excellent song, ‘You’re The One’. The rising star is still working on her forthcoming debut full-lenght.
The returns of The Antlers; Big Boi and Nas Feat. Rick Ross are this edition strongest entries. Whereas free downloads came courtesy of Haim; Julio Bashmore; US retro infused band Unknown Music Orchestra and Physical Therapy Feat. Jamie Krasner.
