Before the contestants of Pop Idol and its many franchises massacred the charts, annoying even good ol’ sting in the process; three child stars from the Disney Club (Britney, Cristina & Justin) had grown up, made alliances with the best producers of the moment and set the standard sky-high for super-slick dance-pop music that many other artists went to follow. Timbaland turned from hip-hop mogul to pop hit factory and in the UK production teams such as Xenomania delivered some of the best tunes we’ve heard in all this period.
