Ginnels Are Not What You Think

Up and coming Dublin band, Ginnels, reaches peak position this week in our loop with ‘Not What You Think’, a standout moment from their excellent latest album ‘A Country Life’

Grimes teaming up with Blood Diamonds for her comeback song is the highest debut, followed by new offerings by Jamie XX; FKA Twigs; Shabazz Palaces and the return of British experimental electronic act The Bug, who anticipates a collaboration-packed new work through a track with Gonjasufi.

The New Pornographers Brill New Track

Our favourite supergroup, The New Pornographers, has sky-rocketed all the way to the top of our loop with Brill Bruisers, the title track from their forthcoming sixth album.

A fresh female garage band from Madrid, Deers, is the week’s highest entry, alongside the new songs by White Lung; Lia Ices; Zammuto; Alt-J and Julia Holter, who delivers another retro classic cover, this time of Dionne Warwick’s ‘Don’t Make Me Over’.

Calvi & Byrne Bring Their Strange Weather

David Byrne seems to miss collaborating with a female counterpart. After his album with St. Vincent he has now teamed up with British vocalist Anna Calvi for a cover of Keren Ann’s ‘Strange Weather’ from Calvi’s latest EP of the same title.

After a few weeks of relatively weak release activity, new entries are flooding again our gates with The New Pornographers‘s latest being the highest, followed by new offerings by Spoon; Hundred Waters; Europa Europa With The Knife and the return of Disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, kicking off this year’s Adult Swim season of free downloads.

Parquet Courts Intantly Disassembling Our Loop

Teaching a lesson on how to deal with that usually challenging follow-up album test, Parquet Courts are our favourite song this week with ‘Instant Disassembly’, from their excellent second work ‘Sunbathing Animal’

Sharon Van Etten Is Killing It

With her fourth studio album ‘Are We There’ establishing her as one of Today’s finest songwriters of her generation, Sharon Van Etten takes over the loop with ‘Your Love Is Killing Me’, one of her record’s many highlights.
