Arcade Fire Reach #1 With ‘Reflektor’

arcade fire

The most eagerly awaited record of the seasons has spawned her first loop topper. Arcade Fire‘s disco-tinged ‘Reflektor’ is our favourite song this week and drives the anticipation for the Canadian arty combo’s fourth album to sky rocket levels.

New tracks by Janelle Monáe Feat. Solange; FKA Twigs; Four Tet and James Blake Feat. Chance The Rapper debut high, but its the relative lesser known White Sea who provides the highest new entry.

Janelle Monáe Leads Us To Prime Time

janelle and miguel

With the suites IV & V of her musical cybersaga having just seen the light of day Janelle Monáe is riding high again. ‘Electric Lady’ has proven to be another winner with legends such as Prince, Erykah Badu & Big Boi on board. ‘Prime Time’, the Princey-esque ballad she performs with Miguel is the week’s top track at the loop.

The mighty return of Arcade Fire with James Murphy on production duties is predictably the highest entry, followed by new songs by the likes of Helen; Machinedrum or Donna Summer remixed by Chromeo for a forthcoming mixes compilation. The biggest surprise among the debuts, though, goes comes from our favourite mormon trio Low who’s just released a superb cover of Rihanna’s recent smash ‘Stay’.

The Loop Goes To Summer Camp

summer camp

One of the few surprises of this musically dry summer has been the low key return of retro obsessed British duo Summer Camp. ‘Fresh’, the disco-infused taster from their second album, is our loop topper this week.

Another standout from the latest Kanye West record is the highest debut. The controversial rapper is in good company with Frankie Rose; The Weeknd; M.I.A also debuting new songs. The unexpected return of Paul McCartney to pop, led by Mark Ronson, and the controversial one of Pixies without Kim Deal also hit our chart.

sza

New Top Dawg signee SZA cannot have left a better first impression with her first track ‘Julia’. The up and coming female vocalist has gone all the way to the top of our loop.

Nicolas Jaar‘s side project Darkside delivers the strongest new entry with the first taster from their imminent album. Death Grips; TV On The Radio and Danny Brown also debut, next to the surprising collaborations between Willis Earl Beal with Cat Power and Pusha-T with Chris Brown .
