Grinderman Is This Week’s Number One

‘Palaces Of Moctezuma’ one of the many standout tracks in the excellent second offering from Nick Cave’s side project Grinderman is this week’s top song in the loop.

New entries have kept at a healthy volume with songs by No Age; Rita Indiana Y Los Misterios; How To Dress Well and a brand new duo between Björk and Antony & The Johnsons,to be featured in the latter’s new opus ‘Swanlights’ bringing fresh excitement to our chart.

Javiera Mena Shines With ‘Moon Stone Light’

Our loop got a distinctive Latin flavour this week as Chilean pop star Javiera Mena reaches peak position with ‘Luz De Piedra De Luna’, our favourite track from her second solo album ‘Mena’. Meanwhile, Spanish artist El Guincho is also riding high with his ‘Pop Negro.’

A landslide of new entries has hit the loop during the last seven days, featuring new sounds by Nick Cave’s side project Grinderman; Deerhunter; Sufjan Stevens previewing his new album; Owen Pallett’s brand new EP; Mark McGuire of Emeralds; Big Boi Feat. Yelawolf; TV on The Radio Dave Sitek’s new project Maximum Balloon and, erm, teen star Justin Bieber in strange partnership with hip-hop greats KanYe West & Raekwon.

New Sufjan Stevens EP Hits The Top Spot

Predictably enough, the long awaited return of US songwriter Sufjan Stevens has found an excellent reception among his audience and reaches top of the loop status. The 8 track EP ‘All Delighted People’ serves as an appetizer for the arrival of his proper new album ‘The Age Of Adz.’

New entries by bloggers’ new favorites Sunset and How To Dress Well ; Glasgow icons Belle & Sebastian; The War On Drugs and two very different collaborations by Justin Vernon –aka Bon Iver- with his mates All Tiny Creatures and in one of the new tracks by hip-hop’s bigmouth extraordinaire KanYe West , alongside Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj.

Listening Posts: Autumn Preview

September has arrived shaking off the cobwebs of popular music after the quieter summer period. It promises to be as loaded of new and interesting releases as usual. The normal listening post destinations are this week fuming with preview streamings of some of the highest profile albums of the new season. This is our recap of the most interesting ones. Most of them are up for a limited time only, so if you got some time to spare just go, listen and enjoy.

Among all of them, is MySpace the site that has our most awaited record on offer: ‘Grinderman 2’, the second instalment of the Nick Cave & Bad Seeds spin-off project, in which the veteran musicians go and swim in drone, prog and psychedelic waters shaping up another excellent opus. MySpace this week also boasts streams of the new albums by Weezer, named after the character from the ‘Lost’ series ‘Hurley’ and a self-titled effort by Interpol.

The Loop Goes To Summer Camp

More sepia tinted sounds are conquering our loop. This week thanks to the charming ubertwee Brits Summer Camp with the highlight from their debut ‘Youth EP’, ‘Round The Moon’.

The Loop Goes Retro With Ann Steel

Our loop gets a distinctive retro flavour with an unearthed gem by the Italian pioneer electronic producer Roberto Cacciapaglia from his 1979 project with Ann Steel . ‘My Time’ was recently brought back to light by Animal Collective’s Avey Tare, and a bit of a cult following has followed.

Real Estate; Aias; Fever Ray; Arcade Fire and the title track from Sufjan Stevens long-awaited new work, ‘All Delighted People’ have all joined in.
